Narrow Gate Foods is a small batch, big love fermentery in Thunder Bay, Ontario. All of our fermented foods are hand made in small batches, using the finest ingredients. Our founder and owner, Nadia Kukkee fell in love with fermented foods and was inspired to share the gut-happy goodness with the world. Each of our products–whether it's our deliciously nutritious kombucha, sauerkraut, water kefir or kimchi–comes from many years of trying different flavours and selecting our favourites!
Nadia is joined by her sister in law Amy, who shares our family's love for good, healthy food. Together the Kukkee's carefully craft, taste and bottle our fermented products. We hope you feel the benefits and effects of regularly consuming raw, unpasteurized fermented foods.
The name "Narrow Gate Foods" is inspired by the book of Matthew. In chapter 7, we read to "enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it"
To us, this means that doing things the normal way just isn't enough. Taking the small, and perhaps unusual way is what leads us to high quality. And so, we do things a bit differently here, but we like it that way.
